Google Maps incorporates the Low Emission Zones of the Barcelona area

Google Maps has integrated the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) of the Barcelona metropolitan area , made up of five municipalities, and the local area of Sant Cugat del Vallès, with the anticipation of incorporating the new areas that are approved, such as Sant Joan Desi.

Thus, from now on, from the Google platform it will be possible to check the geographical limit of the LEZs and the access requirements to them, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) reported this Wednesday in a statement.

The Barcelona ZBE was launched in 2020 and prohibits the entry of vehicles without an environmental label – that is, the most polluting – on working days between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The area includes, in addition to the Catalan capital, the municipalities of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat , Sant Adrià de Besòs , and part of Esplugues and Cornellà de Llobregat.

Information for foreigners

The vice president of Mobility, Transport and Sustainability of the AMB, Antoni Poveda , has underlined, quoted in the statement, that this integration implies “new opportunities and new channels of information for citizens”. “In this case, it will help us to reach foreign users more easily ,” added Poveda.

With this initiative, user information will be improved, especially that of those who use vehicles with foreign registration, since from Google Maps they will be directed to the website of the Barcelona ZBE so that they can register their vehicle .
